Bergen have beautiful mountains surrounding the city, and on one of the nicest lookouts there is this bench with a plaque. One time I was walking there this idea stuck in my head and then this silly thing came out. I thought it was interesting to experiment with using photos as backgrounds in a way that merged well with the drawings, and it really worked! I used the technique developed for this later in the book The Inside, and I probably will do more things in this style as well. It was also a nerdy goal to make a story where all the text is physically in the universe. Or is it?
